What is Eosinophilc Esophigitis?

What is Eosinophilic Esophogitis? Also known as EE, or Eos, or EoE.

First let's start off by saying, there is NO CURE! There is NO FDA approved treatment. And often the only form of successful treatment are large doses of steroids and/or elimination of "trigger" foods, which sometimes as in the case of our 2 boys is an elimination of ALL foods. Forcing them to be on an Elemental Formula ONLY diet and water.

Second let's start with the layman's definition as I know how to explain it, and then I will add links with better medically explained and more in depth definitions. Eosinophils are a form of white blood cell, and in persons with this disorder these eosinophils attack food as if they are a parasite, causing damage to nearby tissue in any part of the digestive tract (in our case the Esophogus). This causes reflux that often does not respond well to reflux meds, vomiting, pain, aversions to food, rashes, diahrea, constipation, and many more symptoms like leg and joint pain, headaches. All of which these symptoms lead to more and more problems from which many you will learn about by reading my posts.

Random pictures to let you know what's going on!

My little baby boy is no longer a baby! I guess it's a good thing since the new baby should be here around July 9th. I'm excited that he is growing and I love to see what he is learning. Like when there are no blocks around you can use cans to play with.

With becoming smarter, he has figured out how to take apart this little stool and sit in it. But he is definitely a toddler, because no matter how many times he gets stuck and cries for help, he always goes back and does it again. Hee Hee

This is the photo of the only time my son has truly fallen asleep on his own. It is a momentous occasion in our house because our children never fall asleep with out being put to bed or tied down. It is so rare in our family I found the photo of the only time that it has happened to Isabelle too.

I'm not one that likes bath time photos but I thought it was funny to see how orange my son is turning. And no he does not have tan or olive skin. He was whiter than Isabelle. His diet because of his food allergies is full of carotene so therefore he is slowly turning orange and there isn't much we can do about it. We just hope he doesn't get too orange because Uriah swears he is going to start singing the oompa loompa song to him if he does. LOL! At least we will have Halloween covered! ;0) Just teasing!

Another moose adventure at our house! The moose decided to take a rest in our neighbor's yard for a few hours laying down and eating snow. Once again, always exciting!!!
